Spanish lessons in primary school
One more language at primary school isn’t one too many when it comes through play. At this age, children don’t translate: they repeat, imitate and pick up sounds an adult would take months to get right.
Spanish lends itself to this better than most — it’s pronounced as it’s written, and many words resemble French. Above all, children gain confidence in speaking, which will serve them again in every language they learn afterwards, starting with the ones school requires.
All lessons – PrimarySpanish lessons in secondary school
Spanish is chosen at secondary school, often as an additional language. Conjugation, vocabulary, written expression: we follow the programme closely, because it’s a mark on the report, not a hobby.
It is the scale on which the secondary school programmes are built: we know where the student needs to be at the end of the year, and we start by looking at where they really are.

Spanish lessons for adults
People learn Spanish to travel, for family or for work, and rarely in a hurry. That makes it possible to approach it through speaking and enjoyment, with a teacher who speaks the language every day.
The whole scale is open to you: we start at A1 if you have never practised, and stop at the level your project requires – an official test, a job, settling here for good. Not sure where you stand? We find out before the first lesson.

Why learn Spanish in Luxembourg
It’s one of the few languages people choose here. At secondary school, it comes on top of three compulsory languages — and pupils who take it start with a real advantage: after German and French, Spanish seems simple. It’s pronounced as it’s written, and half its vocabulary can be guessed.
Then the grammar arrives, and it arrives fast. Four past tenses where spoken French uses two, the subjunctive everywhere, whole families of irregular verbs: many pupils fall behind precisely when they thought the language was easy. It’s not a lack of aptitude; it’s a bend that’s easy to take badly if nobody warns you it’s coming.
For adults, it’s one of the languages that most quickly gives a sense of getting somewhere. A few months are enough to hold a simple conversation, and there’s no shortage of uses for it: a Spanish-speaking community here in the country, colleagues and clients in Spain and Latin America, and holidays where you finally stop pointing at things.

The best teachers
Who you learn with
We take great care in choosing our teachers: each one is interviewed and tested before their first lesson. We look at their degree, of course, but just as much at the way they explain – that is what helps a student progress. Then we look among our teachers for the one whose profile matches your level and your goal.
- Teachers holding at least a bachelor’s degree, recruited after an interview and a test.
- Native speakers for spoken language practice.
- 96% satisfied customers and more than 140,000 hours of lessons taught.
- An organisation approved by the Ministry of National Education: your corporate training qualifies for a tax credit of 20% to 35%.

As a native German speaker, I particularly enjoy teaching German in all its subtlety, as one of the three languages used and recognised by law in the Grand Duchy. By drawing on a range of learning methods and adding varied exercises suited to each student’s level, I love seeing their progress and their pleasure in learning and perfecting the language.

I contacted Cours At Home to take Luxembourgish lessons. The lessons are tailored to what we ask for, and scheduling lessons with the teacher is very flexible. I really recommend it, I’m very satisfied.
This language school is great and the staff really listen. Jérôme Koenigsecke, who runs it, is always fully available and will answer all your questions. Liliana (Luxembourgish teacher) is very caring and teaches with exemplary skill.
I am very happy with Cours at Home’s services. I have been using them for a little over three years now, and I can confirm that their service is excellent. Cours at Home always listens to its clients’ needs – needs which, in my case, are rather demanding, since I am usually looking for German-speaking teachers.
I took German and Luxembourgish lessons with Cours at Home and I’m very satisfied. The lessons are well structured and tailored, and the trainers are good teachers. It really helped me progress. I recommend them without hesitation.
The German lessons with Aurore make for real learning, with lots of speaking practice, interactive lessons, good teaching methods and plenty of variety. I recommend her 100%. The lessons are well organised, with flexible options.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most
Have a question? Call us now
+352 26 30 27 90My child chose Spanish at secondary school and is drowning. What happened?
Almost always the same thing: the first months are easy, they get ahead without working, then the grammar arrives all at once — past tenses, the subjunctive, irregular verbs. They have no method, because they haven’t needed one until now. That’s what we put in place first, before vocabulary.
Is it true that Spanish is an easy language?
Easy to start, yes: pronunciation is regular and vocabulary can often be guessed from French. Easy to take to a good level, no — its verb conjugation is richer than French. Promising otherwise would make the first term pleasant and the second one painful.
I speak Spanish with my family but can’t write it. Can I catch up?
Yes, and usually quickly, because your ear is already trained: what’s missing is spelling, written accents and register — the kind you don’t hear at home. We start from what you can already say, rather than a beginners’ course that would waste your time.
Are your teachers Spanish speakers?
Yes, native or bilingual Spanish speakers, from Spain as well as Latin America. If you have a reason to prefer one accent or the other — family, a job, an exam — let us know: we take it into account when choosing the teacher.
How often should lessons be?
One session a week is the most common rhythm: regular enough to make progress, flexible enough to keep up over a year. Ahead of a specific deadline — an exam, a move — we step it up over a few weeks. There’s no long-term commitment.
