Make progress in Computer science at your own level

Computer science lessons in secondary school

Algorithms, spreadsheets, first programs: the subject rewards regular practice, and nobody progresses by rereading code. That’s what separates, very early on, those who tinker at home from those who wait for the next lesson — a gap that has nothing to do with ability, and that closes quickly.

So we code with the pupil, not for them: they write, it doesn’t work, they look for why, and the teacher only gives the answer as a last resort. It’s slower in the first session and much faster afterwards. Along the way, we prepare the marked assignments, which are also things to produce, not to recite.

Spreadsheets, collaborative tools, good practice: a lot of time is lost on functions nobody has ever been shown. A short, practical course, eligible for the tax credit.

Why computer science isn’t learned by reading

It’s a workshop subject that has found its way into an exam system. Pupils are asked to write an algorithm, get a spreadsheet working, produce a program that runs — things that can’t be learned by rereading notes, just as you can’t learn to swim by reading a swimming manual.

So it splits pupils very early into two groups: those who practise at home and get ahead without thinking about it, and those who wait for the next lesson. The gap widens fast, has nothing to do with ability, and closes just as fast once the pupil is sat in front of a keyboard with someone alongside.

For adults, the question is the same in reverse: you’ve used a spreadsheet every day for ten years without anyone ever showing you the functions that would save you an hour a week. That can’t be learned by reading either.

The best teachers

Who you learn with

We take great care in choosing our teachers: each one is interviewed and tested before their first lesson. We look at their degree, of course, but just as much at the way they explain – that is what helps a student progress. Then we look among our teachers for the one whose profile matches your level and your goal.

  • Teachers holding at least a bachelor’s degree, recruited after an interview and a test.
  • Native speakers for spoken language practice.
  • 96% satisfied customers and more than 140,000 hours of lessons taught.
  • An organisation approved by the Ministry of National Education: your corporate training qualifies for a tax credit of 20% to 35%.

Customer reviews

What our students say

The reviews shown come from our Google page or were sent to us directly: the name, rating and date are those of the review, and we never rewrite any of them. The overall rating is Google’s – it takes every review into account, including the less favourable ones. How we collect our reviews

I contacted Cours At Home to take Luxembourgish lessons. The lessons are tailored to what we ask for, and scheduling lessons with the teacher is very flexible. I really recommend it, I’m very satisfied.

This language school is great and the staff really listen. Jérôme Koenigsecke, who runs it, is always fully available and will answer all your questions. Liliana (Luxembourgish teacher) is very caring and teaches with exemplary skill.
Florine Lahsene Google, September 2024 Review translated from French
I am very happy with Cours at Home’s services. I have been using them for a little over three years now, and I can confirm that their service is excellent. Cours at Home always listens to its clients’ needs – needs which, in my case, are rather demanding, since I am usually looking for German-speaking teachers.
NMP Google, September 2024 Review translated from French

Sabri Bouraoui Google, February 2026 Review translated from French
The German lessons with Aurore make for real learning, with lots of speaking practice, interactive lessons, good teaching methods and plenty of variety. I recommend her 100%. The lessons are well organised, with flexible options.

Which language do you teach?

Whichever your child’s course uses — most often Python at secondary school, sometimes advanced spreadsheets or web development. For an adult or a beginner free to choose, we recommend Python: it’s the one that gets something working fastest, and motivation depends on that.

My child is very at ease with screens but weak in computer science. Isn’t that a contradiction?

Not at all, and it’s extremely common. Knowing how to use apps doesn’t teach you how to make them: one consumes, the other builds. They’re two distinct skills, and the second can be taught.

Do we need a powerful computer or paid software?

No. Everything we do runs on an ordinary machine with free tools. If your child works on their school’s equipment, we align with their tools so they don’t face an unfamiliar environment on the day of the assignment.

Do you prepare for certifications?

Yes, for adults: office software, spreadsheets, first steps in development. We start from what you already do and from your own files — a certification prepared on textbook cases is forgotten the following month.

Do you train company teams?

Yes, on your premises or by video call, using your own tools. The best return is rarely a programming language: it’s spreadsheets and collaborative tools, where a lot of time is lost on functions nobody has ever been shown. The training qualifies for the tax credit.
