Physics lessons in secondary school
Physics takes method more than memory: read the question, note what’s given and what’s being sought, choose the right relationship, write down the units before calculating. A pupil can know all their formulas and still get stuck for want of learning these four moves — they aren’t written in any textbook.
So we redo the programme’s exercises until the reasoning becomes a reflex, and check along the way anything that’s really maths: a shaky equation or power of ten will block a pupil in physics who has nothing against physics.

Brushing up before a technical training course, a competitive exam or a return to studies. We go straight to the chapters you need, with the maths that goes with them.
All lessons – AdultsWhy physics seems hard when it’s actually methodical
It has a bad reputation, and for a specific reason: it’s the subject where you can know everything and still get it all wrong. The pupil knows their formulas, recites them without hesitating, and gets stuck on an exercise because nobody has shown them how to go from a question written in French to a relationship between three quantities.
That step is a method, not a gift. Read the question to the end, note what’s given and what’s being sought, choose the relationship that links them, check the units before calculating. Four moves, always the same, whatever the chapter — and precisely because they’re always the same, they can be learned in a few sessions.
The rest comes down to maths. Many of the difficulties in physics aren’t physics at all: they’re equations, powers of ten or proportions that were never solid. A teacher who teaches both subjects sees it immediately, where the pupil thinks they understand nothing about electricity.

The best teachers
Who you learn with
We take great care in choosing our teachers: each one is interviewed and tested before their first lesson. We look at their degree, of course, but just as much at the way they explain – that is what helps a student progress. Then we look among our teachers for the one whose profile matches your level and your goal.
- Teachers holding at least a bachelor’s degree, recruited after an interview and a test.
- Native speakers for spoken language practice.
- 96% satisfied customers and more than 140,000 hours of lessons taught.
- An organisation approved by the Ministry of National Education: your corporate training qualifies for a tax credit of 20% to 35%.

I started giving private lessons, mostly in maths and a little in physics. Since then I have had students at every level of lower and upper secondary school, which has helped me improve my teaching method over time. I understand that many students have significant gaps. I like the idea that I can help students who are struggling, and seeing a student progress gives me personal satisfaction because it makes me feel useful.

I contacted Cours At Home to take Luxembourgish lessons. The lessons are tailored to what we ask for, and scheduling lessons with the teacher is very flexible. I really recommend it, I’m very satisfied.
This language school is great and the staff really listen. Jérôme Koenigsecke, who runs it, is always fully available and will answer all your questions. Liliana (Luxembourgish teacher) is very caring and teaches with exemplary skill.
I am very happy with Cours at Home’s services. I have been using them for a little over three years now, and I can confirm that their service is excellent. Cours at Home always listens to its clients’ needs – needs which, in my case, are rather demanding, since I am usually looking for German-speaking teachers.
I took German and Luxembourgish lessons with Cours at Home and I’m very satisfied. The lessons are well structured and tailored, and the trainers are good teachers. It really helped me progress. I recommend them without hesitation.
The German lessons with Aurore make for real learning, with lots of speaking practice, interactive lessons, good teaching methods and plenty of variety. I recommend her 100%. The lessons are well organised, with flexible options.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us most
Have a question? Call us now
+352 26 30 27 90My child knows their formulas and still fails their tests. Why?
Because it’s not the formulas that are assessed, it’s getting from the question to the formula. It’s the most common issue, and the quickest to fix: a few sessions on method earn more marks than three revised chapters.
Physics and maths — do we need two teachers?
Rarely. We first look for someone who teaches both, because a block in physics is very often a maths block in disguise. It’s more effective, and cheaper than two separate courses of support.
Do you work on practicals and lab reports?
Yes, and they’re underrated: uncertainties, significant figures and presentation of results are guaranteed marks that pupils lose out of habit. It’s the kind of progress that shows up in the very next test.
Can you help me brush up before a technical training course?
Yes. It’s our most common adult request in physics: we go straight to the chapters the course requires, with the maths that goes with them, and leave the rest of the programme aside.
How often should lessons be?
One session a week suits most pupils. Physics is learned by repeating exercises: a regular slot for two months is better than an intensive catch-up the week before the exam, which doesn’t give the reflex time to form.
