Make progress in Law at your own level

Law lessons in secondary school

Law appears in several secondary-school sections, with new vocabulary and a logic that is newer still: you’re not asked to recite a rule but to apply it to a situation.

So we go over the concepts on the syllabus and, above all, the case-study method — characterise the facts, find the applicable rule, apply it, conclude. These four steps are what the examiner is looking for, in that order; a pupil who sticks to them gains marks even when their knowledge of the course is average, and the reverse is true too.

Law lessons for adults

Returning to study, a professional exam, preparing for the complementary courses in Luxembourg law: we target the syllabus ahead of you, with a teacher who knows the subject.

Law lessons for companies

Your teams apply rules they have never learned: contracts, personal data, employment law. A short course, based on your real cases, that qualifies for the tax credit.

Why Luxembourg law has to be learned on its own terms

People assume it is close to French law because it shares the language and part of its history. It isn’t: Luxembourg has its own laws, its own case law and, in several areas, rules with no equivalent across the border. Revising from French textbooks is the most common mistake, and the most costly.

It is also a subject of method before it is a subject of knowledge. The vocabulary is new, but the real difficulty is the case study: characterising the facts, finding the applicable rule, applying it, concluding. Four steps, taken in that order, which examiners expect and which few students have learned as such.

For adults, the request is often specific — a professional exam, a return to study, or the complementary courses in Luxembourg law required for admission to the Bar. These are deadlines with a known syllabus and format, and that is what we work on, not law in general.

The best teachers

Who you learn with

We take great care in choosing our teachers: each one is interviewed and tested before their first lesson. We look at their degree, of course, but just as much at the way they explain – that is what helps a student progress. Then we look among our teachers for the one whose profile matches your level and your goal.

  • Teachers holding at least a bachelor’s degree, recruited after an interview and a test.
  • Native speakers for spoken language practice.
  • 96% satisfied customers and more than 140,000 hours of lessons taught.
  • An organisation approved by the Ministry of National Education: your corporate training qualifies for a tax credit of 20% to 35%.

What our students say

The reviews shown come from our Google page or were sent to us directly: the name, rating and date are those of the review, and we never rewrite any of them. The overall rating is Google’s – it takes every review into account, including the less favourable ones. How we collect our reviews

I contacted Cours At Home to take Luxembourgish lessons. The lessons are tailored to what we ask for, and scheduling lessons with the teacher is very flexible. I really recommend it, I’m very satisfied.

This language school is great and the staff really listen. Jérôme Koenigsecke, who runs it, is always fully available and will answer all your questions. Liliana (Luxembourgish teacher) is very caring and teaches with exemplary skill.
Florine Lahsene Google, September 2024 Review translated from French
I am very happy with Cours at Home’s services. I have been using them for a little over three years now, and I can confirm that their service is excellent. Cours at Home always listens to its clients’ needs – needs which, in my case, are rather demanding, since I am usually looking for German-speaking teachers.
NMP Google, September 2024 Review translated from French

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most

Have a question? Call us now

Can I revise from French law textbooks?

That’s the most common mistake. Luxembourg has its own laws and its own case law, and in several areas the rules have no equivalent in France. Reasoning learned from a French textbook can be perfectly constructed and perfectly wrong here.

Do you prepare for the complementary courses in Luxembourg law (CCDL)?

Yes — in fact it’s a preparation we run separately, with its own page and its own teachers. The exam format, the subjects and the pace are specific: they’re not prepared like an ordinary law course.

What exactly is expected in a case study?

Four steps, in this order: characterise the facts, identify the applicable rule, apply it, conclude. A student who sticks to them gains marks even with average knowledge of the course; another who recites perfectly without method loses them. That’s what we work on first.

I’m going back to study after several years. Where do you start?

With the deadline, working backwards: the exam, its syllabus, its format, then what needs revisiting to get there. We don’t redo a degree — we target what lies ahead of you, with a teacher who knows the subject.

Do you train company teams?

Yes, through short courses based on your real cases: contracts, personal data, employment law. Your teams apply rules every day that nobody has ever taught them. The training qualifies for the tax credit.
